TODAY

While I am a proud American citizen, and am saddened by so many lives lost on this day 13 years ago, I am also saddened about the 140,000 who died at Hiroshima. Why aren't they mourned? Because it wasn't on US soil. And to the 80,000 at Nagisaki (august 9th). No acknowlegement there. Many innocent people have lost their lives by incredibly senseless acts. Some that did survive ended up homeless. This is not to say 9-11 shouldn't be mourned, but death and destruction occurs ALL over the world, and it is very real but it is not common knowledge. It makes me cringe when I see "we will never forget" memes all over my newsfeed. Of course we will never forget what happened in NYC, but also do not forget that our country has also caused death and destruction to other countries. Many families divided, innocent lives lost.
They are also deserving of others' mourning, regardless of where they reside, or where they come from. We are all one in the same.
